Task #2
Challenges of successful implementation of inclusive ed program
Mainstream
teachers
1. Time- to
prepare special teaching aids for special need ss – reading comprehension about
animals in the jungle – autism – need to prepare a flip book with only few
lines each page and with enriched visuals to match with his short attention
span
2. Nid to
prepare special instructions for autism – no eye contact with the teacher-
sometimes misses teacher’s oral instructions- teacher needs to take the effort
to write down the instructions on board – set time limit for tasks so that they
able to complete task on time – delay the progress of teaching and learning
3. Teacher
needs to prepare Individual Educational Plan for each special need students –
time and effort – to plan and to prepare special intervention and materials
just for one student with short objectives to fulfil – monitor their progress
from time to time to help them achieve the LS for the mainstream students –
teachers need to sacrifice their time to do all that
4. Challenges
in developing the bond between mainstream ss and SENS- autistic children do not
mingle well with other students- animals in the jungle- conduct group
discussion and assign SENS as the group leader- assign SENS as teacher’s helper
– do any action so that the mainstream students do not isolate SENS because
negative learning environment will subsequently influence the learning of SENS
5. Accountable
for reporting SENS progress after a term -if the progress is not met, teachers
will be held accountable by the headmaster and have to write a report
School
Administrators
1. nid to
allocate funds to prepare the facilities for SENS- ADHD- create a safe
classroom- prepare rounded edge tapes for tables and chairs so that SENS do not
hurt themselves
2. nid to
allocate funds to buy special books for SENS – dyslexia- purchase books with
less words and more pictures specially designed to teaching and learning of
dyslexia.
3. Hire a few
special ed teachers, personnel or teacher assistant to aid the mainstream
teacher in preparing teaching aids, designing special interventions or while
conducting interventions for SENS- satistfy SENS needs to achieve Learning
Objective- Autism- teacher assistant to assist him in reading comprehension,
completing written task, monitor his progress and reporting his progress to
