EDUP 3063 ASSESSMENT IN EDUCATION
1.0 Objective Test Items
-Multiple choice questions
-consist of 2 parts:
1) The stem (questions)
2) The options (choices) ---> 1 key (answer) and 3 distractors
(*note that distractors must be relevant and able to confuse the pupils while answering)
1.1 Criteria of Good Objective Test Items
1) Clear Questions
2) The stem is grammatically correct
3) Level of questions is appropriate to pupil's level
4) Negatively stated stems are discouraged (E.g. The following answers are correct except...)
1.2 One of Objective Test Items - True False Questions
1.2.1 Criteria of True False Questions
- must be positive statement
- the statement must be entirely true or false
- Avoid a pattern in answers (TFTF)
2.0 Subjective Test Items
Examples:
1) Short answer
2) essay or composition
3) structured question
4) fill in the blanks
2.1 Criteria of Good Subjective Test Items
1) No options of answers given
2) Have clear and comprehensive marking scheme so that the examiners will mark objectively based on the scheme given.
