Factors that Influence Child Development

Basically, it can be divided into two parts: nature and nurture.

Nature
-nature is generally known as the gene carried since born. Genetic is a discontinuous variation where it cannot be modified or influenced by environment. Through genetic factor, one would be different in terms of blood groups and inherited diseases. For example, parents who have inherited diabetes from their parents might born a baby who inherits diabetes too. Besides, genetic also affects one's characteristics (e.g. temperament)

-Next, maternal nutrition. During pregnancy, a mother should have a balanced diet which include all the nutritious food from the food pyramid. IF a mother does not have sufficient intake of nutrients, the newborn might have deformities during birth or stunted physical and mental growth(e.g. Down Syndrome).

-Apart from that, mother's health. Expected mothers need to have enough nutrients and rest in order to give birth to a healthy baby. Also, expected mothers need to learn to control their emotions so that it will not cause negative effects on the fetus.

Nurture
-nurture is something that influenced by the environment. One of the environment factors is parenting style. Parents who give too much of freedom to children is no good. Neither the other way round. The best way is through authoritative parenting style, where the balance of freedom and support is achieved.

-Next, peer factor. Children gets involve to a "mini society" at school where they get to interact with other children. They might be closer to their friends than their parents because they are same of age.

-Besides, school. School plays an important role in child's development. In school, a child learns knowledge, learn to be disciplined, learn to interact with other students. Also, teacher is the best role model to the child.

-On the other hand, mass media. As in the 21st century world, the mass media has not only have significant role to play in a child's life, but also in everyone's life. Mass media should promote positivity and not negativity. For example, a television channel which is design specifically for young children should not televise violence, sexual, adult contents.

-Lastly, religion. Everyone should have a religion and religions around the world have the same characteristics, which are to teach people to be good and avoid bad or desires. When the religions concept in a child is strong, it can stimulate the child to think positive in uneven current and be bold when facing challenges or hardships. Thus, parents should instill strong religion mindset in children because it brings positivity to the children.
